ONE IS THE COMPLETE REMOVAL OF ALL THE WOODEN TIES AND REPLACING THEM ALL WITH CONCRETE CHANGING ALL THE SIGNAL BOXES AND BASICALLY TAKING APART THE CORRIDOR AND PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER. AND THIS IS NOT JUST A BROWARD THING. THIS IS ALSO A PALM BEACH AND A MIAMI-DADE THING. SO ALL THREE COUNTIES ARE PLANNING TO DO THIS IN THE 2040 ISH TIMELINE. SO WHEN I SAW THAT, I THOUGHT, YOU KNOW, WHY DON'T WE ALSO ADVOCATE FOR ELECTRIFICATION OF THE CORRIDOR? AND I HAVE A LOT OF DATA ON WHY THAT'S A GOOD IDEA. MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE COMING. SO WE NEED TO ADDRESS THE CONGESTION RESILIENCY. YOU ALL KNOW WE'VE LIVED THROUGH FLOODS. WE SEE SEA LEVEL RISING EVERY DAY. THAT'S ONE OF THE CHALLENGES THAT ARE GOING TO BE ADDRESSED IN THE PLAN, AND IT'S PART OF OUR RESILIENCY EMPHASIS AREA. AND THEN TECHNOLOGY, WE DON'T WANT TO GET LEFT BEHIND. SO WE DO HAVE A SECTION ON THERE THAT TALKS ABOUT ALL OF THE POTENTIAL NEW TECHNOLOGY ADVANCES THAT WE CAN INCORPORATE INTO OUR PROJECTS. OBVIOUSLY SAFETY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WHEN IT COMES TO TRANSPORTATION BRIDGE AND PAVEMENT CONDITIONS, SYSTEM PERFORMANCE, WHICH IS ESSENTIALLY TRAVEL TIME RELIABILITY AND ESSENTIALLY FREIGHT TRAVEL TIME RELIABILITY. AND ALSO THOSE TWO AT THE BOTTOM, TRANSIT ASSET MANAGEMENT, ESSENTIALLY STATE OF GOOD REPAIR FOR TRANSIT OPERATORS AND TRANSIT SAFETY. NOW THE FIRST ONE PM ONE SAFETY, AND THE LAST TWO ARE YEARLY MEASURES THAT WE COME TO YOU EVERY YEAR. WE ALSO HAVE THE SS4A GRANT THAT THE MPO RECEIVED FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THAT WE'RE ACTIVELY WORKING ON. WE'RE CREATING A BROWARD SAFETY ACTION PLAN COLLEAGUE, MR. JAMES CROMAR IS LEADING THAT. ESSENTIALLY IT'S THE TIMELINE IS FROM JANUARY TO JUNE OF JANUARY, FROM 24 TO JUNE OF 25 OF 18 MONTHS SCHEDULE. THEY WILL HAVE THAT ACTION PLAN. AND ALL THOSE PROJECTS THAT COME OUT OF THAT ACTION PLAN WILL BE FOLDED INTO THE MTP FOR FUNDING. I AM HERE TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE UPDATE ON WHAT WE'VE BEEN DOING IN THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE SPACE HERE AT THE MPO OVER THE LAST REALLY TWO YEARS, BUT REALLY CONCERTED FOCUS HERE IN THE LAST SIX MONTHS OR SO. I'M GOING TO GO OVER WHY WE'RE LOOKING AT EVS, WHAT WE'RE DOING, AND PROVIDE YOU WITH SOME RESOURCES THAT WE HAVE. WHY ARE WE LOOKING AT EVS? THE NUMBER ONE REASON ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT. LONG RANGE IF YOU LOOK AT THE FULL LIFE OF THE EV VEHICLE, IT MAY NOT BE THAT WAY, BUT WE'RE REALLY THINKING KIND OF IN OUR IMMEDIATE AREA TAILPIPE EMISSIONS ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT. REDUCED COST, IT'S CHEAPER, USUALLY FOR ELECTRIC VERSUS GASOLINE, AND EVS REQUIRE LESS MAINTENANCE LONG TERM. AGAIN, YOU KNOW, IF YOU THINK ABOUT THE COST OF A VEHICLE, IT MAY NOT BE CHEAPER CURRENTLY, BUT PROJECTIONS ARE THAT EVS WILL COME DOWN IN PRICE. SO THERE WILL BE A SAVINGS THERE. BUT REALLY WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT WHEN WE TALK ABOUT REDUCTION IS ELECTRIC VERSUS GAS CURRENTLY AND MAINTENANCE. AND THEN THE BIG REASON IS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS INVESTED 7.5 BILLION IN EVS. SO WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR AREA IS COMPETITIVE AND THAT WE'RE GETTING SOME OF THAT MONEY HERE. ON A FEDERAL LEVEL THE BILOR THE IIJA WAS ADOPTED AND FUND 7.5 BILLION FOR FORMULA AND COMPETITIVE GRANT FUNDING. 5 BILLION GOES TO THE STATES AS PART OF THE NEVI PROGRAM. AND THEN 2.5 BILLION IS GRANT PROGRAM. AT THE STATE LEVEL WE'RE EXPECTING TO GET 198 MILLION OVER THE COURSE OF THE FIVE YEARS AS PART OF THE NEVI PROGRAM. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT'S IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND IS THAT FDOT CONSIDERS OUR AREA BUILT OUT, BECAUSE WE HAVE A LARGE AMOUNT OF EV CHARGERS AND INFRASTRUCTURE HERE. SO CURRENTLY, AS PART OF THEIR EV PLAN, THEY DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY EARMARKED FOR THE BROWARD COUNTY AREA. THEY DO HAVE SOME MONEY MARKED FOR THE MICCOSUKEE STOP OUT IN THE EVERGLADES. BUT ACTUALLY HERE IN THE MPO PLANNING AREA, THEY DON'T HAVE ANY FUNDS FOR EV INFRASTRUCTURE OUT OF THAT 198 MILLION IDENTIFIED CURRENTLY. [00:50:10] SO WHAT HAS THE MPO BEEN DOING? WE CREATED AN EV MASTER PLAN THAT FOCUSED ON THE ALTERNATIVE FUEL CORRIDORS, WHICH ALLOWS FOR GRANT FUNDING. WE APPLIED FOR A CFI GRANT TO GET SOME MONEY HERE TO INSTALL SOME ADDITIONAL CHARGERS. AND THEN WE'VE ALSO INCLUDED MONEY IN THE 2050 MTP, WHICH CHRISTOPHER MENTIONED FOR EV CHARGERS AS WELL. BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA IS SECOND TO CALIFORNIA FOR EV OWNERSHIP, AND OUR TRI COUNTY AREA IS THE LARGEST EV OWNERS IN THE STATE. SO IF YOU FROM MIAMI DADE UP TO PALM BEACH, MIAMI OR SORRY, BROWARD IS NUMBER TWO IN OWNERSHIP FOR EVS. WE ACCOUNT FOR 2% OF ALL OF THE REGISTERED VEHICLES AND BROWARD COUNTY ARE ELECTRIC VEHICLES. AND I NOTICED WHEN I WAS PUTTING THIS PRESENTATION TOGETHER, THE COLORS PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN REVERSED. BLUE IS HIGHER OWNERSHIP, RED IS LOWER OWNERSHIP. BUT REALLY OUT WEST WE HAVE A LOT OF OWNERSHIP. AND HOW DO WE MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE NOT JUST FOCUSED ON 95 AND THE TURNPIKE? OVER THE PAST TEN YEARS, WE'VE SEEN OVER A 3,000% INCREASE IN EV SALES IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA. AND THAT TREND LINE CONTINUES TO GO UP. SO WE, AS PART OF OUR MASTER PLAN, KIND OF HAD TWO TRACKS. ONE, WE LOOKED AT TRI-RAIL STATIONS. WE TALKED TO TRI-RAIL. THEY WERE WILLING TO PARTNER AND GET SOME EV CHARGERS AND THEIR PARKING LOT PARK AND RIDES. AND SO THAT WAS KIND OF OUR TRACK ONE, LOOKING AT WHAT WE COULD DO WITH TRI-RAIL. AND THEN WE DID SOME ANALYSIS TO UNDERSTAND WHERE FOLKS WERE GOING. A LOT OF THE CHARGING THAT'S PART OF THE EXISTING NETWORK, REALLY TARGETS THE NORTH SOUTH 95 MOVEMENT TURNPIKE MOVEMENT. SO WE WANTED TO FOCUS ON SOME OF THE LARGE EAST WEST ARTERIAL AND SAMPLE ATLANTIC COMMERCIAL OAKLAND PARK ALL THE WAY DOWN. THOSE REALLY MADE SENSE. AND 441 IS KIND OF CENTRAL. SO ANYONE TRAVELING NORTH, SOUTH OR EAST WEST OUTSIDE OF THE INTERSTATE SYSTEM, THAT WAS REALLY KIND OF THE DATA SHOWED THAT WAS REALLY A GOOD PLACE TO PUT SOME OF THESE LOCATIONS. SO THE LITTLE DOTS THAT YOU SEE ON THE MAP IN ORANGE ARE REALLY WE'RE LOOKING AT THAT AREA. WE'RE ABLE TO SPEND MONEY FROM THAT GRANT APPLICATION UP TO TWO MILES FROM THAT DOT. SO IT'S NOT NECESSARILY AT THAT INTERSECTION. IT COULD BE A PUBLIC PARK, IT COULD BE A PARK AND RIDE. IT COULD BE A CITY HALL, ANY SORT OF PUBLIC SPACE THAT'S AVAILABLE WITHIN TWO MILES OF THAT DOT. AND THE PLAN IS GOING TO BE OPTIMISTIC. WHEN WE GET THE GRANT, WE'RE GOING TO WORK WITH THE MUNICIPALITIES AND THE AREAS THAT ARE IDENTIFIED. WE'VE GOT LETTERS OF SUPPORT FROM ALL OF THE CITIES WITH THE EXCEPTION OF TWO. SO WE'LL WORK WITH THOSE CITIES TO REALLY IDENTIFY WHERE IT MAKES THE MOST SENSE WITHIN THAT TWO MILES OF THAT CORRIDOR TO INSTALL THE INFRASTRUCTURE, WE'RE LOOKING AT FAST CHARGING, LIGHT CHARGING AND EV CHARGING OR BIKE CHARGING AT EACH OF THE INSTALLATIONS. SO WE KIND OF HAVE DIFFERENT AMOUNTS OF CHARGERS DEPENDING ON THE AREA, BUT REALLY A MIX OF CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE AVAILABLE AND THAT WE CAN KIND OF MIX AND MATCH WITH. SO THE BENEFIT ACCORDING TO THE ANALYSIS THAT WE DID, 187 JOBS IT SAYS CREATED. I LIKE TO SAY JOBS TOUCHED. SO 187 JOBS WILL BE IMPACTED BY THIS GRANT IF WE WERE TO GET IT. AND THAT'S ANYWHERE FROM MY JOB TO THE PEOPLE MAKING THE EV EQUIPMENT, PEOPLE INSTALLING THE EQUIPMENT, THE JANITORS THAT CLEAN UP IN THE AREA. SO IT'S REALLY A BROAD RANGE OF FOLKS THAT ARE INVOLVED IN THIS. SO THAT'S WHY IT'S SUCH A HIGH NUMBER. 75% OF THESE ARE RECOMMENDED IN OR NEAR JUSTICE40 AREAS. WE UNDERSTAND THAT NOT EVERYONE'S GOING TO OWN AN EV, BUT THE BIKE CHARGING, THE SCOOTER CHARGING FOR FOLKS THAT ARE RIDING PUBLIC TRANSIT, THE FOLKS THAT ARE GETTING ON THE TRAIN WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT'S INCLUDED. AND THEN THE GREENHOUSE GAS REDUCTION. AS PART OF THE MTP, WE DO HAVE 12% OF THE [INAUDIBLE] FUNDS IN THE TECHNOLOGY POT. I THINK THAT MAY HAVE CHANGED SINCE I PUT THE SLIDE TOGETHER. IT MAY BE A LITTLE LOWER, MAYBE A LITTLE HIGHER, BUT THERE'S MONEY IN THE MPP FOR THE TRI RAIL STATIONS. FIRST THINGS FIRST, THIS IS A BRAND NEW EFFORT FOR THE BROWARD MPO. IT IS FOLLOWING UP ON THE COMPLETION OF THE ROUTE TO 2050. I KNOW EARLIER IN CHRISTOPHER'S PRESENTATION, HE MENTIONED THERE WOULD BE SOME FOLLOW UP PLANS. AND ONE OF THOSE IS THE HOUSING COORDINATION PLAN. SO SOME BASIC INFORMATION. THERE'S FUNDING FOR THIS EFFORT IN OUR TWO YEAR BUDGET. THEREFORE THIS IS ANTICIPATED TO BE A TWO YEAR PLANNING EFFORT WITH THE FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS IN JUNE OF 2026. AT THAT TIME, THE INFORMATION WOULD THEN BE AMENDED INTO OUR MTP 2050. WE'RE VERY FORTUNATE. ONE OF OUR PARTNERS, BROWARD COUNTY, HAS DONE A LOT OF EXCELLENT WORK, BOTH THROUGH THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING NEEDS ASSESSMENT AND MASTER PLAN AND THEIR ONGOING DASHBOARD, AND WE'RE [01:05:01] GOING TO BE ABLE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ALL OF THE INFORMATION THAT THEY'VE DEVELOPED. SO THERE'S THREE OUTCOMES WE'RE LOOKING FOR THROUGH THIS HOUSING COORDINATION PLAN. NUMBER ONE TO BUILD UPON NOT ONLY OUR OWN BUT OUR PARTNERS PRIOR PLANNING EFFORTS TO DEVELOP REGIONAL GOALS FOR THE COORDINATION OF TRANSPORTATION AND HOUSING AND ECONOMIC STRATEGIES. AND IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT WE BUILD UPON THE GREAT PLANNING THAT THE BROWARD MPO DID A FEW YEARS AGO THAT TALKED ABOUT THE NEED TO INVEST IN THE TYPE OF DEVELOPMENT THAT WOULD SUPPORT ALL OF OUR HISTORIC TRANSIT INVESTMENTS AND ALLOW THIS COUNTY TO CONTINUE TO GROW. OF COURSE, AS I SAID, WE'RE GOING TO BE COLLABORATING WITH THE COUNTY ON THEIR GOALS FROM THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING MASTER PLAN AND THEN BUILDING UPON OUR RECENT WORK WITH ROUTE TO 2050. THE OUTCOME NUMBER TWO, AS I REFERENCED, IT'S RELATED TO THE LEGISLATION, THE IIJA OR THE BUILD BACK BETTER. THERE WERE SOME ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR MPOS NATIONWIDE TO GET INVOLVED WITH HOUSING COORDINATION. SO WE'RE GOING TO BE BUILDING UPON THAT FEDERAL LEGISLATION.
