AND LAST MONTH, AS YOU'LL RECALL, WE HAD A REPORT ON THE LOW STRESS MULTIMODAL MOBILITY PLAN.
THAT'S ONE OF THE THREE STUDIES THAT'S A LOCAL MATCH AND THEN THE OUTCOMES OF THE PLAN ITSELF, AS I KIND OF ALLUDED TO EARLIER, IS CREATE AN ACTION PLAN WHERE WE HAVE A GOAL FOR WHEN WE WANT TO REDUCE SERIOUS INJURIES AND DEATH ON THE ROADWAYS AND SET A DATE FOR THAT.
WE WANT TO IDENTIFY PROJECTS AND GET THEM IN THE STREAM FOR PROGRAMING, FOR DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION, AND THEN ALSO IDENTIFYING POLICIES, POLICIES AND PROGRAMS. SO IT'S THREE DIFFERENT KINDS OF OUTCOMES. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE.
SO WE ARE PREPARING TO BRING A DOCUMENT TO THE CAC AND THE BOARD. THAT IS THE BROWARD SAFETY ACTION PLAN.

SO FOR THIS REASON, WE HAVE A WHAT WE'RE CALLING IT AN EXECUTIVE PLAN, WHICH IS A MORE CONCISE VERSION OF THE PLAN ITSELF AND I'LL TALK A LITTLE BIT LATER ABOUT ONCE WE GET THROUGH THE APRIL WINDOW, WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO DEVELOP THE DETAILS OF THE PLAN.

THIS MATCHES UP WITH SOME GOALS THAT ARE ALREADY OUT THERE WITH THE NATIONAL SAFETY COUNCIL.
THE 3 MPOS IN SOUTH FLORIDA HAVE CITED THAT AS A GOAL IN PREVIOUS DOCUMENTS, AND IT ALSO LINES UP WITH THE PROGRAMS THAT WE HAVE IN OUR 2050 MTP THAT THE BOARD APPROVED IN DECEMBER.
WE'RE LOOKING AT A HOLISTIC APPROACH. IT'S NOT GOING TO BE A ONE SIZE FITS ALL SOLUTION.
SO THERE'S A COMBINATION OF DIFFERENT INGREDIENTS, AS YOU CAN SEE ON THAT GRAPH THERE THEY WERE LOOKING AT SOME INITIAL LOW COST IMPROVEMENTS THAT CAN HELP REDUCE THE, SAFETY ISSUES. THEN WE'RE LOOKING AT GETTING LARGER BIG TICKET PROJECTS IN AND THAT THOSE TAKE A LITTLE BIT OF TIME TO GET PROGRAMED AND FUNDED. SO THOSE ARE A LITTLE BIT LATER ON THIS CHART.
WE'RE LOOKING AT SOME SPEED REDUCTION STRATEGIES THAT WE'LL TALK ABOUT A LITTLE BIT LATER.

WE HAVE A TECHNICAL WORKING GROUP THAT MEETS MONTHLY AND THEN AN OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE THAT'S QUARTERLY AND THESE ARE ALL REPRESENTING NOT JUST OUR TRANSPORTATION PROFESSIONALS, BUT ALSO PEOPLE FROM THE HEALTH INDUSTRY, LAW ENFORCEMENT, PRIVATE SECTOR BUSINESSES, COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS, COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND SO RATHER THAN JUST HAVING US SIT IN A ROOM AND ALL JUST, YOU KNOW, KIND OF PREACH TO THE CHOIR, WE GET DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES THAT WE DON'T ALWAYS HEAR.
WE HAVE LAW ENFORCEMENT PROFESSIONALS. WE HAVE BUSINESS, COMMUNITY AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS.
SO IT'S A VERY IT'S BEEN A VERY DYNAMIC AND INTERESTING SET OF MEETINGS.

BRIEFLY, THE HIGH INJURY NETWORK IS BASED ON WHERE THE DEATHS AND SERIOUS INJURIES ARE OCCURRING ON OUR ROADWAYS. THERE WAS AN ANALYSIS TO DETERMINE THE SEGMENTS THAT HAD THE GREATEST FREQUENCY OF THOSE TWO TYPES OF EVENTS AND WE ENDED UP MAPPING ABOUT 380 MILES OF CORRIDOR OF ROADWAYS, WHICH IS 76% OF OUR ROADWAYS, BUT ACCOUNT FOR 77% OF THE DEATHS AND SERIOUS INJURIES.
AND SO THE HIGH RISK NETWORK ISN'T NECESSARILY WHERE DEATH AND SERIOUS INJURY ARE CURRENTLY OCCURRING, BUT THESE ARE ROADWAYS THAT DO HAVE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE ROADWAYS THAT DO HAVE THE GREATEST SAFETY ISSUES AND THAT'S TYPICALLY GOING TO BE SIX LANE ROADS.
SPEED LIMITS. 40MPH AND ABOVE. ODDLY, THE 55 MILE PER HOUR ROADWAY COHORT ISN'T RESULTING IN AS MANY DEATHS AND SERIOUS INJURIES AS THE 40 TO 45. SO WE MET THOSE TWO TOGETHER AND CAME UP WITH SOME ANALYSIS.
WE LOOKED AT PRIORITIZATION AND FROM THAT WE'RE ABLE TO SELECT 11 CORRIDORS WHERE WE TOOK THOSE

SO WE HAD STATE, COUNTY AND LOCAL ROADWAYS. WE ALSO HAD SIX LANE, FOUR LANE AND THREE LANE SEGMENT, WHICH IS ON SISTRUNK. SO WE LOOKED AT A VARIETY OF CORRIDORS AND THE POINT THERE IS TO DEVELOP SOME SOLUTIONS THAT WE CAN TEST, AND THEN SEE IF WE CAN APPLY THOSE IN OTHER LOCATIONS.
THE SAFETY ANALYSIS ALSO INCLUDED FOCUS PLANS AND SO WE'VE TALKED A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THESE THAT WE DID EIGHT DIFFERENT PLANS THAT FOCUSED ON SPECIFIC ELEMENTS OF SAFETY. SO SAFETY IN SCHOOL ZONES SAFETY RELATED TO RAIL CORRIDORS RELATED TO LIGHTING TO MID-BLOCK CROSSINGS TO TECHNOLOGY, ALL THESE DIFFERENT THINGS AND I'LL TOUCH ON THOSE A LITTLE BIT LATER AS WE COME TO THE RECOMMENDATIONS THAT COME OUT OF THE STUDIES.
SO FIRST TALKING ABOUT POLICY AND PROCESS CHANGES.
